For generations, rice plant has always been kept as a key position in the ample life of the Southeast Asia’s peoples generally, from the daily meals to the religious needs of the resident community. In Vietnam, a country with a rich and long-standing culture, along with the founding and development of the nation, water rice agriculture has been making an important contribution to forming the Vietnamese cultural identity. The rice plant has entered into the spiritual life of Vietnamese people for generations, closely related to music, poetry or inspiration for art works. The golden rice spikes are also shown on the national emblem of Vietnam, contributing to becoming a symbol of the country and of the nation.

Aiming at conveying the message of preserving and promoting Vietnam's national cultural identity in the context of integration to the world, each product in the "Dong Dong" collection is thoroughly researched by LandFurniture’s team to contribute to the reappearing of the atmosphere of 80s period in Vietnam through tables and armchairs and decorative objects that evoke gentle and elegant ancient images.

Every detail in the furniture collection is exquisitely designed and hand crafted, reminiscent of Vietnamese features and conveying a message and denotation about a water rice civilization - the cradle of life in the river deltas of Indochina land.

Introduced at Maison & Objet 2023 with the theme "Enjoy", the interior collection "Dong Dong" created by LandFurniture is inspired from the spikelet rice flower growing season, the period of eager excitement and enjoy of farmers after busy days waiting for their labor results.

Also, with the reminiscent implication of life beginning when rice plants started freshly blooming, endowing special and unique fragrancy, "Dong Dong" evenly immerses itself into the rhythm of "Vivant, Vivants" (Living, livings) of Paris Design Week 2023.

In addition, the collection also under influence by typical designs and structures of the Art Deco which is "localized" when using stylized decorative motifs on traditional elements of its local culture. The details of the gilded rice flowers and rice grains not only show the natural crystallization of sky and earth, rustic but full of treasure, it is also the source of nation's vitality, nurtured for development and prosperity. In Vietnam, rice grain is considered as a symbol of life, as such, the armchair’s backrest is sewed with stylized rice grain shape tufting, like "pearls from heaven", the upshot of rice planting, growing and harvesting process.

Along with the continuous development in modern society, the national cultural values need to be maintained and preserved. Notwithstanding, instead of storing "box keeping" cultural materials, it is necessary to continuously create and take advantage of cultural strengths for constant development.
